Authentic Stories from Diners
I couldn’t disagree more with many of the reviews of this cafe. My wife and I called in yesterday at about 2.50pm. We were told that we were too late for soup and a roll and what was available was really limited. We had a scone, a brownie, tea and coffee. Soon after we sat down other people were turned away they being told that the cafe was about to close! As we were eating the two young ladies serving literally started to sweep the floor around us. This was in our opinion extremely rude and we felt rushed to finish up and leave - at 3pm! Oh how we wish we had chosen any other cafe,
Popped in for a cuppa and nibbles with my hubby. We both ate ..the cheese scone was delicious. The staff were very attentive and the service was personable and prompt. A very pleasant food interlude.
Such an amazing little restaurant! We found ourselves in Southwold with a terrifyingly hungry teenager at 11ish and nowhere seemed to serve food until midday (not a complaint, just an observation!). We popped in to see if the Pickled Kipper was serving food and a lovely, beaming waitress said they were! We had a Ham and cheese panini, cheese ploughman's and a smoked salmon platter. Everything was fresh and the food arrived so quickly. Absolutely lovely inside, seats out front and an adorable rear courtyard too. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle on the beach/high street. Lovely food with a good selection and lovely service.
I had the cranberry brie and bacon panini (delicious!!!) I think it was £9 and plenty of filling. The salad and coleslaw on the side was a nice touch. Food was delicious and mostly reasonably priced. My partner had the sausage roll slate, £11 for a small sausage roll with new potatoes and salad seemed a little overpriced but still enjoyable. They had a few cakes on display too. Staff seemed friendly & quick service.
Incredibly tasty and fresh food. Loved the pickles added to salads and dishes! Staff were lovely, welcoming and very helpful with dietary requirements. Almost missed it walking down the street but so glad we stopped, and so good to see another place in Southwold offering GF alternatives.
