Authentic Stories from Diners
The house itself was beautiful and we had a great time in the Red Room. It was really beautiful, cosy, and well decorated. Nothing was missing. The food was okay, but nothing more. It felt pricey for what it is, as it’s essentially pub food. Also, I wouldn’t recommend the yoghurt and granola for breakfast, as the granola tasted old and not very fresh. The most disappointing part was the overall experience. I sent an email a week before to book the restaurant for my partner’s birthday and also asked for the Rolls-Royce experience, which is advertised as complimentary on the website, just for fun. I had to chase them as I received no response. They eventually replied asking where to pick us up and saying they would let me know the price for the Rolls-Royce. This was the first misalignment, as it was supposed to be complimentary. Then, the day before our visit, they sent another email in response to my initial request, apologising for the late reply (!) and saying that the table had been booked for lunch and that the Rolls-Royce could not happen due to staff sickness. During lunch, I brought candles and asked the manager to have the kitchen put one on my partner’s dessert, which they did. (they kept al my candles btw). However, I would have appreciated a small gesture from the restaurant, a piece of cake or a little something for my partner, as most restaurants usually do. There wasn’t even a “happy birthday” or any acknowledgment at all. Small touches make the whole guest experience. Sadly, it felt like there was a lack of warmth here.
First time we fined with friends for Sunday Lunch. Have to say food and service was excellent. Would recommend and certainly would fine there again
We rang before as have dairy intolerance and they were so helpful they did something completely off menu and it was so good. Staff are lovely, very cosy and would highly recommend.
A delicious Sunday lunch! Excellent quality ingredients and well paired flavours. Great service and value. We will definitely be returning.
Honestly, so glad we stayed here! A lovely weekend in a beautiful village made even more special by the staff at the hotel and the fabulous room, food and drinks. Thank you to everyone we met at this gem of a hotel. Only 5 rooms, so you feel really special staying here. (And the late night bar chat with Tom and Jan was really lovely)
