Salthouse British Brasserie and Bar

We recently hosted my mom’s kitchen tea at the Salt House Hotel and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Not only is the venue breathtakingly elegant and beautifully run, but it also holds a very special place in our hearts, it’s where my mom and her fiancé had their very first date, so bringing her back here before the wedding felt incredibly sentimental and meaningful. The staff were warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional, making the planning process smooth and stress-free. The setting was classy and timeless. I felt it was ideal for a more sophisticated celebration that still welcomed guests of all ages, from my mom's youngest grandkids to teenagers, friends, and grandparents. Everyone felt at ease and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you, Salt House Hotel, for helping us create such a memorable and heartfelt day. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. A perfect send-off before the big “I do”!

The staff are absolutely amazing — friendly, kind, attentive and genuinely caring. Every interaction feels personal, and nothing is too much trouble. They truly make the stay extra special and create an atmosphere where you instantly feel relaxed and looked after. Everything has been thought through with care: plush beds, immaculate rooms, thoughtful little touches, and an overall feeling of ease and indulgence. It’s one of those rare places where you feel genuinely valued rather than just checked in. Whether you’re escaping for a special occasion, a quiet retreat, or simply a night of pure indulgence not far from home, The Salthouse delivers in every way. A truly special stay!

We had a lovely experience at Salt House in Ipswich. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour, with clear attention to quality ingredients and detail. The atmosphere really stood out, the décor is stylish, modern, and creates a warm, relaxed setting that makes you want to stay longer. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a great place for a special meal or a relaxed evening out. We’ll definitely be back.

We booked in advance, but unfortunately the table wasn’t even dry when we arrived. I asked for a napkin, which was used to clean the table, but I never received one for myself afterwards. The roasted celeriac soup had very little taste that we couldn’t eat 😕. The Italian salami also didn’t taste fresh. I mentioned this while we were still on the starter, but no one came to ask what the problem was. The main dish itself was okay, but I personally didn’t enjoy the pumpkin sauce on the plate. I also ordered chunky chips on the side, but they never arrived. Overall, not a great experience.

We booked a table to celebrate a friend receiving an award, and it was a wonderful afternoon with great food and service. The atmosphere was relaxed, the seating comfortable, and the staff so helpful and professional. Our server was perfect, attentive without being intrusive, and very professional. Even the water for the table never ran dry. Everyone said their food was delicious, the wine was light and tasty and best of all, I've found a place that serves a manhattan (my favourite drink). All round the staff were accommodating, professional, and friendly. They were happy to let me set up balloons for the table & also, very kindly, produced a congratulations dessert for the friend we were celebrating! I will definitely be visiting again and I absolutely recommend that you pay them a visit too!
