Authentic Stories from Diners
I took my girlfriend to Pommodoro after visiting Bury St Edmunds with her, The staff were very welcoming and lovely. We both found the food good and it was at the right price point for what you get. Afterwards we were offered complimentary amaretto and espressos which was a lovely surprise. Overall a very lovely early dinner.
Food is always absolutely incredible as well as the servers being very welcoming and kind. The restaurant even has a beautiful view!!
Went with the family yesterday. Firstly the service was good. Seating was a bit tight. Menu for an Italian restaurant was limited and expensive in my experience (ยฃ16.95 for an ok pizza or pasta dish). Dessert menu not great. An Italian resturant with no tiramasu or panna cotta?? Most was either vegan, gluten free or both. So overall imo, ok, nothing special and expensive.
Loved it! Very tasty and perfect portions. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Fairly priced, good quality food. Highly recommend. ๐ฅฐ
When we approached the restaurant and noticed the contradictory signage above the door (the owner apparently undecided whether the name of the restaurant should be spelt with one or two M's, and with various - i.e. correct and incorrect - spellings of the word "trattoria", we were wondering how authentic the food was going to be. As it turned out, the "Ragu' alla Bolognese" was, in fact, rather tasty (despite the fact that this also suffered a spelling mistake in the menu, which listed it as "Rogu alla Bolognese"). But the spaghetti happened to be the only real highlight of our visit. The waiter (or owner?) didn't seem very motivated that day and seemed kind of bothered to have to serve us. Perhaps because the restaurant was almost empty, and he had hoped to close shop early? In any case, a little smile would have gone a long way to enhance our experience and make us feel welcome. The presentation of the Aperol Spritz was rather interesting: Served in a glass that I would usually expect when ordering an apple juice, but decorated like an exotic Caribbean cocktail. Like the restaurant itself, the drink seemed to be going through a bit of an identity crisis. Which is a shame really, because the combination of the delicious food and the restaurant's location alone should ensure its success - if it weren't for all the distraction that turned our visit into somewhat of an odd experience.
