Authentic Stories from Diners
Lark, in Bury St Edmunds, is a true gem! From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional – attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. The concept of small sharing plates is brilliant, allowing you to sample a delightful array of flavours. We were absolutely blown away by the quality and creativity of each dish. The wild mushroom arancini with truffles were simply divine – perfectly crisp on the outside, creamy and intensely flavourful within, with the truffle adding a luxurious touch. The Galicia beef was cooked to perfection, melt-in-your-mouth tender and packed with flavour. A special mention for the sauces, deep, rich, glossy and to absolutely die for. The mackerel ceviche was a refreshing and zesty delight dresses with cubes of rhubarb, a wonderful contrast to the richer dishes. And for a sweet treat, the selection of 3 amazing desserts on the sharing platter could not be rivalled; the yuzu sorbet and passion fruit possett contrasting with rich glutinous chocolate mousse with a generous quenelle of coconut cream to flood the pallet with flavour. Beyond the standouts, we also thoroughly enjoyed the sourdough flatbread, warm and chewy, perfect for scooping up the delicious Baba ganoush. It's clear that Lark puts a lot of thought and care into every element of the dining experience, from the carefully curated menu to the warm and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a memorable night out. Updated with more recent photos of the Christmas menu. Standout ox pie in a parsley sauce that was so green and tasty, an amazing Galician blond fillet of beef, papas bravas with mojo rojo again were incredibly tasty. A real must visit.
It's the third time we've visited here and each time we have been so impressed. The food is top notch with a great menu of small plates for sharing. It is on the expensive side, but the ingredients reflect the increased price and they certainly are premium. They're able to cater for gluten free with no fuss at all and they note what is gf on the menu. A very small restaurant so booking is probably a good idea.
Exceptionally good restaurant with consistently strong seasonal dishes. Tapas style menu allows the kitchen to showcase a variety of flavours and techniques. Service is attentive and warm without being overbearing despite the dining setting bordering on very cosey. Good value for money Would recommend ensuring dish sizes before ordering if in a larger group as some of the smaller dishes would need to be divided to a point of barely a mouthful each. Overall comfortably one of Suffolk’s best offerings.
Very very good food, thank you. Had Saturday lunch today and it was brilliant, well served as well as good value. They do marvels considering the size of the place is teeny tiny. We had the menu of the day, now laying in the hammock trying to work it off. Huzzah! Hope to go back soon.
A flavour sensation! I will run out of adjectives to describe how delightful this meal was. A small plate concept and we ordered 8 dishes between 2 of us. The flavour and presentation was immaculate for every plate. The cod was zingy, the pea croquettes smooth and the pork was 'meaty'. Service was very attentive, friendly and informative. Cannot wait to go back.
