This was our third visit to Blue Fig, and definitely the best so far. With one vegetarian in our party of 4, we wanted to ensure that there were plenty of food sharing options whilst not limiting the overall choice, so made it clear we wanted some dishes as starters and some as main. Our hostess (Anna or maybe Emma?) was very accommodating and provided first class service with a smile throughout. The food was excellent as usual - for starters we shared three vegetarian dishes, all of which were good, and for mains the three carnivores shared venison, steak and pork belly dishes, each of which was excellent, whilst the veggie had an aubergine and tomato dish. The style of this restaurant encourages sharing of smaller plates of food, and I now think they have found a great balance between that where anything could arrive at any time to a more structured approach when requested. A very enjoyable evening. I don't like posting negative comments about a place, so didn't review after the first two visits as things didn't go as well. The food was excellent, but the service was, frankly, poor and the limitations on bookings to 90 minutes did not create a relaxing meal out. Hopefully they have now got this sorted permanently.

Fantastic little gem in the heart of Bury St.Edmunds. This little restaurant is so quirky and cozy, wonderful Christmas decorations. I walked in with no reservation, on my own, on a Friday night before Christmas. Many other restaurants would have sent me away but not here. I was given a lovely table and the food was to die for! I had olives & sourdough bread, than beef & venison. Really amazing tasty food cook with passion, stunning presentation ( see pictures ). I had the best venison ever had in my life. All together with a glass of fantastic full bodied Syrah. Above all, a really outstanding customer service. I was welcomed by Elena and Fran and both made me feeling like I was at home. Outstanding, thank you ladies! STRONGLY RECOMMENDED WHEN IN BURY !!!

I ordered 3 of the tapas style dishes; pork belly, padron peppers, and the venison ragu. The peppers were very good, except one was three times the size of the rest, so was crunchy. I had to ask for the venison, as the other dishes had arrived 15 minutes before it. The server gave me some brush off comnent; we didn't bring it out as three dishes is a bit messy on the table! I was dining alone... there was a lot of space for these tony tasting plates! I'd planned to have the ragu with the padron peppers, as my Spanish grandfather liked to. The ragu was tasty, but had a couple of chunks of gristle that detracted from the quality of the dish.

Exceptional Food & Service – A Must-Visit! I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share just how impressed I was with this place. The quality of both the food and service is truly exceptional — especially in a time where it’s increasingly hard to find restaurants delivering this level of excellence at a reasonable price. This was easily the best meal I’ve had all year. The staff were kind, friendly, and incredibly helpful, and every dish that came out was absolutely to die for. You genuinely won’t get a better meal for two for around £100 in all of Suffolk. I’d highly recommend booking a visit and enjoying a lovely evening here. It’s a gem that truly shouldn’t be missed! 🍽️👏

We had the most superb meal here recently. Firstly, I think the service in the Blue Fig is the best out of any restaurant in Bury - the staff were incredibly attentive, topping up our water all the time and making space on our table for more plates to arrive, without pestering or rushing us. The restaurant was really sweet and they had air-con running which was lovely, as it was a warm evening. But the food! The food was incredible! If I could relive the meal again, I absolutely would. I would especially recommend the pork ribs, beef ribs, the melanzane, the chocolate dessert and the garlic mushrooms. Lovely drink selection too. We will be returning!
