Oh my gosh, what a discovery. Having lived several years in the UK, this was the best meal at reasonable prices. I felt I was in France or a fantastic mainland seafood restaurant. I could taste the freshness of their products, the traditional way it was cooked, flavours as for a fine dining experience.
This is a top notch fish restaurant. The home made fish soup was packed full of flavour and nice and hot. I ordered the cod special, which arrived beautifully cooked and very nicely presented. I felt the service was a little rushed, but it was very efficient and did not detract from a nice meal
Absolutely delicious sea bass, cooked to perfection. Surprisingly quiet, but it was a wintery day.
Meal for two. What should have been a pleasant meal was spoilt by terrible attitude. Upon checking the bill, we were charged twice for one of the meals. There were only two of us and we had two mains and shared a dessert, so not particularly taxing for any waiter/waitress to add up. The waiter said sorry we will put that right for you. We put on our coats to leave and I casually asked the head waitress who would normally do the tilling up? She launched with a curt tone into "why would we want to do that, it's a simple mistake that we could easily make and it's up to you to check your bill" as if she was waiting to defend her corner with the worst attitude I have experienced from a so called good restaurant. No apologies at all, just couldn't wait to get us out. I said ok thanks and we walked away vowing never to return. Shame, as the food was ok. My worry would be if there were a lot of you and you were splitting a bill, who would check everybody to see what they had had. It is the customer's responsibility of course, but more importantly, it's your responsibility to get the bill right in the first place. Everyone, please check your bill very carefully!
I came to Aldeburgh specifically for a good fish dinner and found it here, simply but perfectly cooked, buttery samphire and mussel sauce, new potatoes. Perfect. Free WiFi Friendly and efficient service.
