Wickham Market, about three miles north of Woodbridge, is a large village which serves as a centre for the surrounding countryside. It offers a good range of shops including a small supermarket, post office, pharmacy, a renowned butchers and a variety of eating establishments. Wickham Market is well located for exploring the Suffolk Heritage coastline and National Trust and Forestry Commission lands, as well as the unspoilt countryside and villages of Inland Suffolk. Snape, Aldeburgh, Orford, and Framlingham are all within 20 minutes' drive. Minsmere Nature Reserve and Dunwich just 30 minutes away, and Southwold only 10 minutes more - are all within easy reach. The area is ideal for walking and cycling; the coast offers sailing and other watersports; there is plenty of scope for horseriding, with a well-known stables at the edge of the village; and there are a number of golf courses in the area. Pightle Cottage is an early Victorian traditional Suffolk cottage with front and rear gardens. Situated in a peaceful setting overlooking a green (the pightle) which borders on the village church, yet just two minutes walk from the village centre. There is ample parking space adjacent to the terrace or in a nearby free car park. The comfortable and cosy accommodation, which is frequently used by the owners, has a Visit Britain 3 Star quality rating. Equipped with gas central heating, the cottage comprise a sitting room and separate kitchen/dining room on the ground floor, with a narrow staircase leading upstairs to a bathroom and double bedroom. The pretty sitting room, which overlooks the green, has two comfortable sofas, a gas burning stove and TV, DVD and mini hi-fi system. Next door is the kitchen/dining room which is well equipped with a walk-in pantry and electric cooker; fridge-freezer, washing machine and microwave. The newly refurbished bathroom has a bath with shower mixer-taps and a useful storage cupboard. Two steps lead up to the bedroom, also overlooking the green, with built-in wardrobe and airing-cupboard and a large comfortable double bed. The kitchen door leads to a delightful cottage garden with a sheltered sitting-out area. Garden furniture and barbecue are stored in the garden shed which may also be used for bicycles. Gas and electricity are included in the rental, and bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided. Sorry, no pets or children, and smoking is not allowed inside. |
