The Old Postmill is located in a central village location in North Suffolk village of Thorndon, near Eye. It's just a five minute stroll to the village pub for good local food and beer. As can be seen from the map and aerial photographs, the Old Postmill's central Suffolk rural location is within easy reach of the heritage coast, with the well-known towns of Aldeburgh, Southwold, Snape Maltings and many of the smaller villages that are found in the area.
The Old Postmill provides luxury self catering accommodation for up to six people. Although the former windmill is no longer in use, this fully equipped, and unique building is on a working arable farm. The combination of original beams, modern wooden floors and modern furnishings, gives an balanced mix of comfort and style with rural character.
The accommodation comprises one double bedroom and two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms, plus a family bathroom. From the ground floor, spiral stairs lead to a spacious open-plan sitting room. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, and to welcome you we provide a breakfast basket with locally produced milk, bread, bacon and sausages.
The Old Postmill is available all year round, with heating and electricity, linen and towels are included in the price. Children of any age are welcome but pets may only be brought by prior arrangement. There is ample private parking on site. The Old Postmill is a "no smoking" building.
Children are most definitely welcome! The playroom (a separate room) is equipped with a portable TV, Xbox with various games, toys, board games and cuddlies. The walls have been painted with cartoon figures.
Outside is a TP swing set, trampoline and sand pit. Although we are a working farm there is very rarely any through traffic on this part of the farm as all tractors and machinery is stored elsewhere. Even so, during 2008 a large garden will be completely enclosed by fencing, so there is a specific boundary.
